Burmor deliver safety talk to schoolchildren

Published on Friday 27 July 2018

As the school summer holidays approached, Burmor Quantity Surveyor Scott Broadbent delivered a safety talk to pupils at a primary school close to our site in Westwood, Peterborough, where 16 new homes are under construction for Cross Keys Homes. The talk was aimed at explaining to pupils the dangers of trying to gain access to and play on construction sites, in particular over the school summer holidays.

Scott showed the pupils what construction site warning signage looked like and what the signs mean, and spoke about the dangers inherent in issues like trying to climb scaffolding or accessing excavations, or trying to play on plant and machinery.

Scott concluded with a demonstration of the sort of personal protective equipment worn by operatives on construction sites and how this helps keep them safe and healthy.

The photos below show Scott conducting the talk. We would like to thank the staff and pupils at Ravensthorpe Primary School for facilitating what was a very worthwhile event.

Due to the nature of the ground piles are required to go down to a depth of almost 25 metres, and therefore our piling specialist has brought their biggest piling rig to site.
