Football tournament raises over £1100 for British Heart Foundation

Published on Monday 17 September 2018

Following the staging of the inaugural Chris Dowd Memorial Shield charity football tournament in August, we were delighted to present a cheque for £1102 to the British Heart Foundation from the funds raised on the day.

Pictured from left to right are Robbie Thurston, Patrick Burke and Scott Broadbent of Burmor Construction, Damian Roach of MKM Building Supplies, Ollie Crofts of Burmor Construction, Jim Wenn of Bloom & Wake, and Pat Burke of Burmor Construction.

The tournament was organised in memory of Chris Dowd, who was both a Contracts Manager at Burmor Construction and a family member related to our family-run company, and who sadly died on Easter Sunday 2018 after a series of heart attacks. We would like to thank the following companies who entered teams into the competition and contributed to the fund raising:

Aecom, Antares Installations, Attica, B-Safe Electrical Services, Bloom & Wake, Brook & Mayo, Burmor Construction, Floorspan Contracts, Grantham Ceilings and Interiors, MKM Building Supplies, Microbyte.

Donations are still welcome on the following website: http://celebration.bhf.org.uk/Celebration/In-memory-of-Chris-Dowd

The tournament was won by Burmor, who will defend the trophy in the summer of 2019 when the competition will next be held, and we look forward to seeing everyone again next year.
