Sun, Sport & Smiles: A Glorious Day at the Burmor Annual Charity Football Tournament 2025

The Burmor Annual Charity Football Tournament returned again for the 7th year running at Borderville Sports Centre, home of Stamford AFC—and what a day it was! Under clear skies and glorious sunshine, eight determined teams took to the pitch, battling it out for both bragging rights of the Chris Dowd Memorial Shield and a brilliant cause.

Each team brought their A-game, with some really tight matches balanced by plenty of good-natured banter and camaraderie.

A Day to Remember

With stunning summer weather providing the perfect backdrop, the teams turned out in full force with supporting friends and family. However, the tournament wasn’t just about football—it was a celebration of community. A sizzling BBQ and well-stocked outdoor bar kept energy levels high and spirits even higher, with laughter and cheers echoing around the grounds all day long which was great to see.

And the Winners Are…

After a series of group games and a knockout phase, it all came down to a terrific final. In the end, Burmor Construction proved why they were the hosts—clinching the shield in a hard-fought win and bringing it home in style!

Giving Back

Most importantly, the tournament succeeded in raising funds again under our ‘Help for Homes’ initiative supporting charitites close to Burmor’s heart in BHF and Sepsis UK. The exact amount is still being tallied, but early counts suggest we have broken £2000 which is just incredible!
