Back to Where It All Began – Spalding Grammar School Careers Day

“Our visit to Spalding Grammar School for their Careers Day was more than just an opportunity to talk about construction — it was a nostalgic and proud return to our roots.” - Luke Boekestyn (Director) and Jack Wycherley (Assistant Business Manager).

As former students, stepping back into that familiar hall to represent Burmor Construction and speak to the next generation felt great. It was a full-circle moment — from PE lessons to whole school assemblies, wondering about the future; to now sharing our journey and encouraging others to consider careers in construction and the built environment.

We were pleased to see the students engaging through our new interactive quiz with enthusiasm and curiosity. This opened up meaningful conversations and interactions throughout the entire day with all the different year groups and we’re proud to have played a small part in guiding and inspiring that path forward for those students.

Thank you to Spalding Grammar for having us — it was a real honour to return not just as alumni, but as existing and new Enterprise Advisers and of course, advocates for a sustainable, skilled, and inclusive construction industry. Until next time!
